Glenn Walker - Education History

The majority of my education was conducted at Smestow school & sixth form where I conducted my GCSE`s and A-levels. During my time at Smestow school I also participated in wide range of activities and extra curriculum activates more information on this can be found below. After I completed my A-Levels I also had a brief encounter with university.

University of Wolverhampton

I decided to transfer university's during my summer break at the same time I also decided to change my area of study to Cyber Security. However during this time the Covid-19 lockdown was in affect with most restrictions still in place, meaning there were no sport teams allowed to gather and that most of the study was conducted virtually.

Data mining
Computer networking
Cybersecurity architecture & operations

Reason for leaving:

The Covid-19 pandemic had now restricted the abilities to go in and study, there was a lack of support from the university when it came to the studying from home and there for it was no longer feasible for me to continue my study.

University of Worcester

I completed my first year of study in Computing at the university of Worcester during my year here i also joined the university's swim team where we trained four times a week and took part in multiple charity events, we also trained for national and local university competitions(VARSITY).

Reason for leaving:

I decided to transfer from this university to the university of Wolverhampton due to the course being very repetitive to my GCSE`s and A-Levels, before making this decision I spoke to the course leader, personal academic tutor after which we agreed that this would be the best choice of action.

A-Level`s

At the start of my A-Level studies I helped the school`s drama teacher run the schools drama club of which we put on multiple performances, including a school talent show where I also had to support with the hosting of the show. During my independent study sessions I would also support the school`s resistant materials department and the computer science department. When I was helping out with resistant materials department I would be getting materials prepped for the classes, support the teaching in lessons, improving the room to make sure all the activates could go ahead following all the necessary health & safety procedures and i also helped run a after school glider club. The glider club was a chance for the younger years to design and make a working glider which we took the local RAF base (RAF Cosford) to compete against other local school, working in this department also taught me many skills. I started to support the Computer science department when they lost a teacher due to an illness of which I taught some of there lessons for the younger years which meant the supply teachers didn't have to worry about the technical sides of the lessons.

GCSE level

During my time studying my for my GCSE`s I also helped out as a stage hand, it technician and participated in the school production of grease, which consisted of three rehearsals a week and then three shows. I also participated in a weeks work experience where I worked along sides the school`s computer science department and the I.T technician`s, within this week I took part in lesson planning, teaching and reimaging computers.
